I am a big fan of Tomi Adeyemi’s debut novel, “Children of Blood and Bone”. I loved so much about it and when I heard a movie deal was signed, I was immediately happy for her. But when I heard book two would be released in the summer, I was already ready to continue on this journey on my deck in the summer heat. Fast forward and the date was pushed back twice. But I am feeling confident that the December 3rd release date is a go and I am going to try to make room in my TBR for December to return to Orisha!
I was not alone in loving the debut because as of today it has spent 87 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller list! Which is quiet an impressive feat for a debut novel.
The movie rights have been acquired by Fox and after Disney’s acquisition of Fox it is now owned by Disney. The director is Rick Famuyiwa, a Nigerian-American director, producer and screenwriter of productions including The Wood, Brown Sugar, Talk to Me, and Dope. Which is fantastic for so many reasons. I can’t wait to see what they do to adapt this book for the big screen. It needs to be epic in quality like Black Panther.
In the meantime, I will wait for my pre-order to arrive in a few weeks!
